I was scared to jump into weight loss. Everything I had tried before failed. Diets never worked because once I started restricting, I became obsessed with food. I was hungry all the time and constantly thinking about my next meal and what I couldn’t have. Exercise scared me because I have had two prior spinal surgeries and do not have the range of motion or the strength that I once had. I was stuck in a cycle where I couldn’t lose weight because I couldn’t exercise, and I couldn’t exercise because I couldn’t lose the weight.
After speaking with Leah, she put together a plan that worked with my body and my needs. Her approach has changed my attitude towards food. I am making healthier choices, and I am not hungry all the time. I can still eat the foods I love and have even found new foods that I enjoy.
I was worried about how my body would tolerate exercise since my surgeries. Leah put my safety first and created a program that would build up my strength, stamina, and burn fat while also keeping my limitations in mind. She has taught me to listen to my body and know when I can push further and when I need to slow down.
The biggest change I have noticed is not in inches or pounds (although that has also drastically changed). The biggest change has been how I view myself and my body. I am hating myself less every day and starting to love myself and my body more.
Some days are harder than others. Leah recognizes this and pushes me when I need it. She celebrates the wins and won’t let me give up on my health or myself.
